Wonderful faces of Indonesia. Thailand typically claims the mantle as the land of smiles. With my recent visit to Indonesia, I was reminded how friendly and hospitable the Indonesians are. My travels brought me to the islands of Bali and Java. And I was met continually by the wonderful faces of Indonesia during my visit.
I met this wonderful family on top of a large hill that overlooks the temple of Borobdur. I took a lot of photos of them and joined a bunch with them as well.
I rented a motorbike and scooted around in the surrounding village next to Borobudur and met some other new friends. This is a time lapse video shot on the GoPro that I attached to the bike. The sun shined and I cruised the quiet streets. Excuse the cheesy music.
I also stopped by a temple or some sort of church. I met this guy. More fun then a barrel of monkeys.
On this island of Bali I met a ton of friendly people.

Very nice, always like your people pics! In Thailand they’re used to tourists – go to Indonesia and people want to talk to you and have their picture taken with you. Can be a bit too much at times but I still remember many of the faces I met in Sumatra…

I was really impressed by the smiles and friendliness of the people in Indonesia. Thailand is the land of smiles but Indonesia might trump them.

Lovely photos and I’ve gotta agree with you, Indonesians are very friendly fellows indeed, especially the Balinese. You would think they would be a bit jaded by tourists these days but far from it. We had a contract job which meant we were based in Sanur for 3 months and it was the best one we have had to date.
Must have been a great experience. I have been to Bali twice, but only know it skin deep. Would be great to spend some serious time there like you did. I caught the sunrise at Sanur which was quite nice.
