Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon. I know I am in good company when I am staying at a hotel that hosted the former US Secretary of State. I spent three great and relaxing nights at the Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon. The Chatrium is nestled in a private area next to Kandawgyi Lake.
The updated room was spacious and very comfortable. It had great AC which provided a perfect refuge from Yangon’s stifling heat. Myanmar in general does not have the most consistent internet, but at the hotel the Wi-Fi worked great and an extra power bank rested on the desk.
Another great to wind down is to hang out at the fantastic pool.
The staff was also helpful and gracious. I wanted to attend a Lethwei (Burmese martial arts) fight during my stay in Yangon. Ko Ko Gyi, at the front desk, hunted down the information since I was not able to find the schedule online.
The Chatrium has many positive features but the highlight for me was the view. Upon entering my room, I slid the curtains open and was greeted with a magnificent view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. I spent two evenings in my room watching the sun dip down behind the pagoda. I recommend staying at the Chatrium when you stay in Yangon.
